Testing... 07/31/2026

The last time I really coded with effort was when I was still in college, during Covid's peak time.

I was in this class that was specifically about communication, and how to do it digitally. I liked the class well enough to try, which was a feat in itself, because Covid was killing any and all motivation I had left in me to try. Having to make an effort while missing half of my in-person interaction that public college was supposed to provide me was a lot for me to take on. I had been diagnosed and living with depression for about 3 or 4 years by then, which made a lot of my life touch and go in terms of progress regarding social skills and function. I looked forward to seeing people I liked in class as Covid reared its ugly head and wiped tons of effort I had consciously made to be a real person.

I knew a very tiny amount of "Backdoor Coding" in school, which was comprised mostly of suffering through pointless lecture about binary and being berated by a teacher that expected intro level CompSci majors to be coding prodigies. Our labs were where we really had a shot at learning code, but I fear it was pointless on me. HTML was easier for me to grasp, and I began to enjoy it. Unfortunately, I did not continue learning and practicing my coding, and so I'm back to square one almost 7 years later.

My current site is actually a base style I pulled from another creator on here, just something for me to pick apart and learn how to create again on my own. I don't know what my end goal is here, making such a site, but I am excited to pick up HTML/CSS/whatever else I may need to become a more proficient site maker. Till then, I'll likely just make blog posts when I remember to, maybe add my art, and carve myself a nice place on the internet to hide in.

Thoughts of the day

Knowledge is a fleeting subject that we are quickly losing sight of thanks to technology embedding itself into our minds, our flesh, and our creativity. I hope we correct course before we live in a digital dark age in the cemetary that is quickly becoming the online space many people seek refuge within.
